Guwahati, May 4 -- In Nagaland's Koridang Assembly by-election in Mokokchung district, BJP candidate Daochier Imchen has taken an early lead after two rounds of counting on Monday, maintaining a significant margin over his closest rival as the process nears its final stage.
Imchen was ahead of NPP candidate I. Abenjan by 1,599 votes, securing 4,554 votes compared to Abenjan's 2,955, with one more round of counting remaining.
The counting process began at 8 am at the deputy commissioner's office under tight security, including multi-layer deployment and CCTV surveillance due to past poll related incidents.
