India, March 11 -- Mizoram's lone Rajya Sabha member, K. Vanlalvena, on Tuesday called upon the Centre to construct flyover bridges in Aizawl to address persistent traffic congestion in the state capital, an official statement said.

Speaking on the floor of the House during the ongoing Parliament budget session, the MP stressed that Aizawl's unique hilly terrain poses significant challenges to road expansion, the statement added.He noted that the existing narrow road network is no longer sufficient to handle the volume of vehicles, leading to gridlocks that paralyze the state capital.
