Aizawl, Aug. 31 -- Assam Rifles personnel seized 250.21 grams of heroin valued at more than Rs 1.87 crore near Zokhawthar along the Mizoram-Myanmar border, an official said on Sunday.

The seizure was made on Saturday following specific intelligence inputs about the movement of narcotics in the area, according to a Defence spokesperson.

Acting on the information, Assam Rifles personnel laid an ambush near the Tiau River in the Vangkai area of Zokhawthar in Mizoram's Champhai district.

During the operation, the troops spotted a woman crossing the river while carrying a green polythene bag. She placed the bag on the riverbank and signalled to another person who was waiting nearby on a scooter.
