Aizawl, April 16 -- Nearly 94 per cent of eligible voters availed of the home voting facility in Mizoram ahead of the upcoming Aizawl civic polls, the State Election Commission said on Thursday.

The facility, extended to senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and individuals with chronic illnesses, witnessed a high level of participation. Officials said that out of 2,768 registered voters in the special category, as many as 2,594 cast their votes during the four-day exercise, which concluded on Thursday.

General polling for the 19-member urban local body in Aizawl is scheduled to be held on April 21, while counting of votes will take place on April 27.
