Guwahati: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has said that construction of fencing along the India-Bangladesh border in the state is in its final phase, with only about 40 to 45 km still remaining to be completed

He informed that nearly 400 kilometres of border fencing has already been successfully completed as part of the ongoing infrastructure push to strengthen security along the international boundary.

According to the Chief Minister, around 10 per cent of the work is still left, mainly due to issues raised by local communities in certain stretches. He said the government is actively engaging with residents to resolve these concerns in a "mutually acceptable" manner.
