Meghalaya CM seeks Centre's approval for Umroi airport expansion, aviation projects
Guwahati, July 23 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has sought faster approval from the Centre for several pending civil aviation projects, including the expansion of Shillong Airport at Umroi, the takeover of Baljek Airport in Tura, additional heliports and a proposed water aerodrome at Umiam Lake.
The requests were placed before Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu during a meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday. Sangma told the minister that the state government had completed all responsibilities assigned to it and was now awaiting the Centre's approvals.
