Guwahati, Sept. 20 -- Vehicle checking has been intensified in Meghalaya's Shillong following several attacks on government and police facilities and incidents of damage to public property.

Police are conducting checks during late-night and early-morning periods at different locations in the city. Both two-wheelers and four-wheelers are being stopped as part of the security measures, while police are also monitoring areas considered vulnerable.

The move comes a day after East Khasi Hills Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Lovish Garg was injured while carrying out a vehicle check at Urkaliar, near Samkhamti Petrol Pump, early Friday.
