India, March 10 -- The West Garo Hills district administration in Meghalaya has imposed a night curfew in 37 villages identified as sensitive following protests by several non-governmental organisations over the participation of non-tribals in the nomination process for the upcoming autonomous district council elections, officials said on Monday.
The curfew will remain in force from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. during the nomination period from March 9 to March 16 to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain law and order.
