Guwahati, Oct. 7 -- KSU vice-president Pynkmenlang Sanmiet was granted 20 days' interim bail by a local court on medical grounds on Wednesday, allowing him to consult his treating doctors and undergo a procedure recommended for his health condition.

Sanmiet was released from Shillong District Jail following the court's order.

Speaking to reporters after his release, Sanmiet said he had been experiencing health complications since July and had earlier received treatment at Bethany Hospital. He said he was discharged after several days but was advised to return for a follow-up medical examination two weeks later.
