Guwahati, April 15 -- The Meghalaya government has said that elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) will be scheduled only after the completion of the ongoing delimitation exercise.
Speaking on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister in charge of District Council Affairs Prestone Tynsong said that a notification has already been issued to form a delimitation committee, which has been tasked with carrying out the boundary revision work.
He added that once the committee finishes its assignment, the proposal will be placed before the state Assembly and then forwarded to the Governor for final approval. Only after these steps are completed will the election schedule be announced.
