Guwahati, April 14 -- Former MLA Estamur Momin surrendered before police on April 13 in Ri Bhoi district after remaining absconding in connection with violence linked to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections.
Momin appeared at Nongpoh Police Station after evading arrest since unrest broke out earlier this month. The violence is traced back to March 9, when he visited the Deputy Commissioner's office in Tura to file his nomination papers for the GHADC polls.
