Meghalaya: Five masked persons identified, SIT formed to probe Shillong rally violence
Guwahati, Aug. 23 -- Five masked people allegedly involved in the August 19 incidents in Shillong, including attacks on Assam-registered vehicles, have been identified, according to the Meghalaya government.
The development came after senior officials from Assam and Meghalaya met at the Koinadhara State Guest House on August 22.
Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister S. Dhar and Assam Minister Atul Bora led the meeting, which lasted more than three hours and reviewed the incidents and their aftermath.
Meghalaya has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to identify others allegedly involved in the incidents. The team will focus particularly on those accused of attacking Assam-registered vehicles and take legal action against them.
