Meghalaya: 558 HIV cases detected among general population between April and June 2026
Guwahati, Aug. 14 -- The Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) has released revised and verified data for the Intensified IEC Campaign 3.0, shortly after the statewide launch of the initiative at Lady Keane College in Shillong.
According to the updated figures, 558 people from the general population tested positive for HIV between April and June 2026. During the same three-month period, HIV was detected in 60 pregnant women, MACS said.
The latest HIV Estimation Report 2025 estimates that 9,244 people are living with HIV (PLHIV) in Meghalaya.
As part of Intensified IEC Campaign 3.0, MACS will conduct 1,026 village-level meetings across the state to expand community outreach and strengthen awareness about HIV prevention and treatment.
