India, March 15 -- A National Lok Adalat was conducted across Meghalaya on Saturday, resulting in the resolution of 151 cases with settlements totalling about Rs 1.61 crore, according to an official release.
The initiative was organised by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority under the banner of the National Legal Services Authority.
Proceedings took place at the High Court of Meghalaya as well as district courts throughout the state, except for courts in the Garo Hills area.
As stated in the release, a combined total of 496 matters were placed before the Lok Adalat for consideration. These included 168 disputes at the pre-litigation stage and 328 cases that were already pending before courts.
