Manipur govt launches archival restoration project to recover missing gazettes
Imphal, Sept. 11 -- The Manipur Government has launched an archival restoration project to recover 881 missing gazettes and preserve the state's administrative records, with 124 gazettes recovered and 41 reconstructed so far.
Director of Printing and Stationery Ng. Roben Singh, speaking at a press conference on Friday, said 116 of the recovered gazettes were sourced from the National Archives, while eight were obtained from local sources. Another 41 gazettes have been reconstructed as part of the restoration effort.
The Directorate is also collaborating with National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Manipur to develop an AI-powered Gazette Search system to make the records easier to access.
