Imphal, July 12 -- The Manipur Government has condemned the arson and mob violence at Kanto Sabal village in Imphal West, stating that two people allegedly involved in the incident have been arrested.

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said the Manipur Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed in large numbers to prevent any further escalation.

Condemning the incident as an attempt by vested interests to derail the ongoing peace process after a prolonged period of calm, the Chief Minister appealed to the public to remain peaceful and cooperate with the authorities.
