Manipur govt announces five-day work week, employees continue cease-work strike
Imphal, July 10 -- The Manipur government, under Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, has implemented a five-day work week (Monday to Friday) for state employees, effective July 11, 2026.
The revised schedule, aimed at improving work-life balance, designates Saturdays as general holidays. However, working Saturdays may be mandated occasionally based on administrative requirements.
According to an official notification, office hours will be from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm during summer and from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm during winter.
The order applies to all state government offices, autonomous bodies, institutions, corporations, societies, boards, and public sector undertakings (PSUs).
