Imphal, Oct. 9 -- Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has urged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to expedite work on National Highway-37 and National Highway-2 and approve key infrastructure projects in the state.

During a meeting at Gadkari's official residence in New Delhi on Thursday, Singh stressed the need to complete upgrades on NH-37 (Imphal-Silchar) and NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur) during the current working season to ease commuter hardships.

He also sought the immediate commencement of construction on the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Highway along the Manipur-Myanmar border and approval for a proposed elevated highway in Imphal.
