Imphal, July 8 -- Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited northern Senapati district on July 8, 2026, and approved the Rikhruri Multipurpose Dam project to provide drinking water to 27 villages.

He also reviewed horticultural projects and held meetings with local groups, including the United Naga Council (UNC), to discuss regional development issues and community concerns.

Addressing a gathering at the ACI Auditorium in Punanamei village, Chief Minister Khemchand Singh announced the formal approval for the construction of the Rikhruri Multipurpose Dam. The project is expected to address drinking water shortages in 27 nearby villages.
