Imphal, Aug. 29 -- In a move to promote grassroots development and institutional reform, the Manipur State Cabinet on August 28 approved a women's empowerment scheme along with a dedicated police recruitment drive for athletes.

The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh at the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Minister's Office on Friday.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen through video conference, Deputy Chief Minister Loshii Dikho, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, other Cabinet ministers, Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel and senior departmental officials.
