Imphal, Oct. 10 -- The BJP has demanded the immediate resignation of Congress Lok Sabha MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam after Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) dismissed him over sexual harassment allegations.

Speaking to reporters in Imphal on Friday, October 9, BJP Manipur Pradesh president and Rajya Sabha MP A. Sharda Devi said the party had received evidence from JNU regarding allegations of misconduct involving young female students.

Devi said Akoijam's alleged actions were disrespectful to women and unacceptable for a public representative. She called on him to resign from Parliament immediately.
