India, March 12 -- Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh informed the state Assembly on Wednesday that his government has communicated with the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding a Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
The exercise aims to ensure that all eligible citizens are included in the electoral roll and that ineligible voters are excluded.
Replying to queries raised by the Leader of the Opposition and Wangkhem AC MLA K. Meghachandra regarding the census process, the Chief Minister said the process will begin following the completion of house listing and the SIR.
He informed the House that the census is conducted under the supervision of the Registrar General of India.
