Guwahati, Aug. 31 -- Two villagers were killed, and two others sustained bullet injuries after suspected cadres of the NSCN-IM and ZUF-K allegedly opened fire on N Teikhang Kuki village in Manipur's Kangpokpi district on Monday morning.

The attack was reported at around 9.30 am under the T Waichong sub-division, according to local sources. The assailants allegedly fired at residents and torched several houses, prompting villagers to flee the area amid the gunfire.

The deceased were identified as Lamtinthang, who was reportedly shot dead during the attack, and Neichin, the wife of Tongpao.

Seilun suffered a bullet injury to his thigh, while another woman, Nemneichong, was also injured in the firing, the sources said.
