Imphal, Sept. 16 -- The Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) has urged the Centre and the Manipur government to undertake a comprehensive disarmament of all armed groups operating in the state, including those covered by the Suspension of Operations (SoO) framework.

In a press statement, the Thadou tribal apex body called for strict legal action under anti-terror laws against groups that refuse to surrender their weapons. It also criticised what it described as the exploitation of ethnic divisions and political use of armed factions, while questioning the effectiveness of the extensive security deployment in the state.
