Manipur: Students push for NRC before Census, CM assures Assembly discussion
Imphal, Aug. 20 -- Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh assured student representatives on August 20 that the state government supports the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur.
He said the issue would be discussed during the State Assembly session beginning on September 2. He also said that conducting the process and ensuring its error-free implementation would require careful consideration.
The Chief Minister was speaking to a student delegation from 10 schools and colleges in Imphal that met him at the Chief Minister's Secretariat to demand the implementation of the NRC in Manipur before the Census.
