Imphal, April 22 -- Manipur's Home Department is compiling data on Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), including deaths, housing, and terminal illnesses in relief camps, following an RTI filed by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee's Hareshwar Goshwami.
As of March 30, 2026, 217 deaths are linked to violence, with 58,881 IDPs and significant destruction of housing reported, along with over 30 missing cases.
The Manipur State Information Officer has directed the Home Department to collect all necessary reports from the respective District Commissioners (DCs) and furnish information on the total number of IDPs who have died in relief camps, the number of IDPs residing in pre-fabricated houses and relief camps, and the number of inmates su...
