Imphal, Oct. 15 -- The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal has initiated an investigation into the death of 25-year-old Thokchom Ongbi Binaroi, who died after childbirth at the hospital.

The institute has constituted a four-member enquiry committee and directed it to submit a detailed report within three working days. Hospital authorities have also confirmed that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Appropriate action will be taken based on the committee's findings, officials said.

In an official statement, the RIMS administration expressed grief over the incident and conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family.
