Imphal: Indian security forces deployed along the Myanmar border apprehended an alleged member of the foreign-based Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B), along with a pistol, during a special operation in Manipur's southern border district of Churachandpur on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off from sources across the border, personnel of the Assam Rifles launched a surprise anti-insurgency operation, leading to the arrest of the insurgent cadre, later identified as Lal Thang John.
The arrested individual is a resident of Zoveng village in Churachandpur district, who had allegedly travelled to Myanmar to receive basic military training before joining the KNA-B outfit.
