Imphal, Nov. 8 -- An angry mob vandalised a student boarding facility in Manipur's Bishnupur district on Saturday night following the suspicious death of a 16-year-old student.

The teenager, a higher secondary student, was found hanging from a tree near the Kangbei Maril River, close to Oinam Bazar under the jurisdiction of Nambol police station, on Saturday evening.

A senior police official confirmed that the mob targeted the boarding facility at Brighter English Academy and set fire to furniture and other property on the premises.

Security forces used tear gas shells and other crowd-control measures to disperse the mob and restore order.
