Imphal, Aug. 12 -- A local court in Imphal on Tuesday convicted 58-year-old Md. Abdul Halim for the 2013 murder of his wife at their rented home in Golapati Maning Leikai Tangki Makhong in Manipur's Imphal East district.

The judgment was delivered after final arguments were heard on June 24, concluding a long-running legal battle led by the state prosecution.

The case began on June 14, 2013, after the victim's son filed a complaint at the local police station. According to police records, Halim stabbed his wife with a knife inside their residence at around 5:40 pm that evening.

Family members and neighbours rushed the critically injured woman to Public Hospital in Hatta, but she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
