Imphal, Sept. 2 -- The Naga Tapon Village Authority has demanded immediate security deployment, compensation and an independent investigation after an armed attack on three Liangmai Naga villages in Manipur's Kangpokpi district left two civilians critically injured and damaged or destroyed several houses and other properties.

The attack took place from around 3.30 am to 12.30 pm on Tuesday in Pipuram Makui, Naga Tapon (Old) and Naga Tapon Namsan (New) villages, according to the village authority. It said firing stopped after Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel arrived in the affected areas.
