Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex representative body of the Kuki community in the state, has called for an immediate and impartial investigation into the killing of 57-year-old Rongmei Naga villager Chungjanglung Panmei.

According to KIM, the incident took place on June 8, 2026, in a forested stretch between Pongringlong and Pondaijang villages in Kangpokpi district, under the jurisdiction of the New Keithelmanbi Police Station.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the organisation clarified that the area where the killing occurred falls within Pongringlong and has neither Kuki settlements nor any Kuki presence. Stressing the need for a transparent probe, KIM urged the authorities to e...
