Manipur: Kangpokpi IDPs protest over pending DBT funds, seek timely aid
Imphal, Aug. 1 -- Internally displaced persons (IDPs) under the aegis of the Kangpokpi District Internally Displaced Welfare Committee (KDIDWC) staged a sit-in protest demanding the immediate release of pending Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) funds.
The committee cited financial distress, delays in monthly allowances and declining food stocks in camps.
According to official Right to Information (RTI) data, Kangpokpi district recorded 15,694 internally displaced persons, the highest number of displaced people among Manipur's districts.
Protesters at the Kangpokpi district headquarters raised slogans demanding the immediate release of DBT assistance, educational support and non-discriminatory treatment between camp and non-camp residents....
