India, March 10 -- Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Monday said the Government of India has extended a special financial package of Rs 2,198 crore to support the state in prepaying high-interest loans, meeting security-related expenditures, covering central paramilitary force deployment charges, and assisting in the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Speaking during the discussion on the Governor's Address in the seventh session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister said around 288 companies of central security forces are currently deployed in the state to maintain peace and stability.
