Imphal, Aug. 3 -- Fourteen civil society organisations (CSOs) in Manipur have threatened to enforce a statewide shutdown from midnight on August 9, accusing the state government of failing to act on their long-pending demand to update the National Register of Citizens (NRC) before the national Census.

The organisations announced the proposed shutdown during a press conference held at the IPSA office in Keishampat, where convenor Nahakpam Shanta criticised the government for what he described as its continued inaction.
