India, Feb. 12 -- Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh met Maj Gen Subhankar Basu of the 57 Mountain Division, also known as the Red Shield Division, on Wednesday to discuss measures for maintaining peace in the state. The meeting came in the wake of renewed ethnic clashes between Nagas and Kukis at Litan in Ukhrul district, which left over 50 houses destroyed in arson attacks.

An official statement issued on Thursday said the discussion, held at the Chief Minister's Secretariat, focused on coordinated efforts to ensure stability, public safety, and the rule of law, in line with the Prime Minister's vision for peace and development.
