Guwahati, April 17 -- Unrest broke out in Manipur's Bishnupur district following a fresh clash after protesters stopped three private vehicles carrying armed security personnel in civilian clothes, leaving 21 civilians injured.

Police said five people have been taken into custody.

According to police, the incident took place around 1.30 pm near Thinungei when locals blocked the movement of the security team after rumours began circulating about the identity and purpose of those inside the vehicles.

A large crowd gathered and halted the convoy, and the situation worsened when some individuals turned aggressive, attacking the vehicles and setting two of them on fire.
