Guwahati: A man was detained on Tuesday at the venue of the swearing-in ceremony of the new Assam government after security personnel reportedly recovered a few rounds of live ammunition during routine screening at the entrance of the Veterinary College Field in Khanapara.

Police said the ammunition was detected during frisking at the entry point, following which the individual was taken into custody and shifted to Basistha police station for questioning.

While confirming the detention, a police officer said no firearms were recovered from the person and an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances under which the live bullets were carried into the security zone and whether the incident...
