Guwahati, May 10 -- Assam BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma has been unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party as well as the NDA Legislature Party in Assam. Following the announcement, it was confirmed that Sarma will take oath as the Chief Minister of Assam on May 12.

The swearing-in ceremony is expected to witness the presence of several senior BJP and NDA leaders, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to attend the event as the chief guest.

The development formally paves the way for the formation of the new NDA government in Assam after the alliance secured a decisive mandate in the Assembly elections.
