Guwahati, April 24 -- The Gauhati High Court on Friday, April 24, dismissed Congress leader Pawan Khera's plea seeking anticipatory bail in a case lodged by the Crime Branch of Assam Police in Guwahati.

Justice Parthivjyoti Saikia had reserved the verdict on April 21 before pronouncing the order today, refusing to grant relief to the Congress spokesperson.

The matter arises from a complaint in which allegations of defamation, forgery, and criminal conspiracy have been raised against him.

The FIR was triggered after Khera made claims that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, held multiple foreign passports and had undisclosed overseas assets.
