Gauhati HC seeks Assam govt's response on third extension of retired IFS officer M.K. Yadava
Guwahati, Sept. 13 -- The Gauhati High Court has sought the Assam government's response to a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the third post-retirement extension granted to former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and IFS officer M.K. Yadava as Special Chief Secretary (Forests).
A Bench comprising Chief Justice Ashutosh Kumar and Justice Arun Dev Choudhury issued the notice on Friday (September 11), directing the State to respond to the petition by October 15.
The petition was filed by eastern Assam-based conservationist Rohit Choudhury, who has challenged Yadava's continued engagement in the post after his retirement in February 2024.
