Guwahati, Sept. 21 -- A possession order involving more than 211 bighas of land in Assam's Golaghat has been put on hold by the Gauhati High Court. The court has directed the state government to first dispose of an appeal filed by Mouchak Agro LLP against the requisition of the land.

Justice Manish Choudhury passed the order on August 20, 2026, in a case related to property at Rajabali Bagan in the Morangi Revenue Circle of Golaghat district.

The land in question measures 211 bighas, 1 katha and 19 lessas. The land was requisitioned on May 6, 2026, when the Golaghat District Commissioner exercised powers granted by the state government under Section 3(1) of the Assam Land [Requisition and Acquisition] Act, 1964.
