Guwahati, May 13 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced on Wednesday that four major initiatives under 'Skills Meghalaya' have been launched: PROPEL, MEGASKILL, SHIELD, and EQUIP.

The initiatives are aimed at strengthening livelihoods, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for the youth of the state.

As part of the initiative, trade-specific toolkits were handed over to trainees including tour guides, plumbers, technicians and other skilled workers, benefitting nearly 21,000 trainees with an investment of around Rs 24 crore.

Over the past three years, the Meghalaya government has invested around Rs 80 crore in the Meghalaya Skills Programme.
