Guwahati, July 28 -- The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Tuesday said government representatives met its leaders for nearly three hours late Monday night, reiterating assurances on the withdrawal of FIRs, release of detainees and protection against future legal action for protesters.

In a statement posted on social media in the early hours of Tuesday, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the meeting took place just hours after the organisation's press conference.

According to Das, government representatives shared copies of notifications issued by the Bihar and Assam governments guaranteeing the withdrawal of FIRs, no future action against protesters, and the release of all those detained or arrested in connection with the agitation.
