Assam records nearly 20% EV penetration in new vehicle registrations: Jayanta Malla Baruah
Guwahati, July 9 -- Assam has recorded nearly 20 per cent electric vehicle (EV) penetration in new vehicle registrations over the past three months, reflecting the state's growing shift towards clean and sustainable transportation, Forest and Environment Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah said on Wednesday.
Sharing the figures on X, Baruah said the steady rise in EV adoption has been supported by the expansion of charging infrastructure, affordable electricity tariffs, uninterrupted power supply and government policies designed to promote green mobility across the state.
