India, March 25 -- Residents of Jungaon under Haldibari Panchayat in the Khowang Legislative Assembly constituency have threatened to boycott the upcoming Assam assembly election, demanding a concrete road and drinking water facilities.
The agitated residents staged a protest today against the dilapidated road and warned of a possible poll boycott.
The villagers said that despite submitting several applications and requests to Khowang MLA Chakradhar Gogoi, no action was taken.
They alleged that the MLA threatened them with arrests if they continued to approach him on the issue.
"When we requested him, MLA Chakradhar Gogoi asked if he should construct the road by selling the paddy in his storehouse," a villager said.
