India, March 16 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered the posting of five IAS officers as District Election Officers (DEOs) in Assam as part of preparations for the 2026 Assembly elections.

In a communication issued on March 16, ECI Secretary Rajiv Ranjan informed the Government of Assam that the decision was taken after reviewing the state's poll preparedness for the upcoming elections.

According to the order, P. Uday Praveen (IAS-2016) has been posted as the District Election Officer of Kokrajhar, while Srishti Singh (IAS-2021) has been appointed DEO of Majuli.
