Mizoram, Sept. 4 -- Train movement between Assam and Mizoram has been disrupted after heavy rain damaged about 50 metres of railway track on the Katakhal-Bairabi route.

The affected portion is located between Jamira in Assam and Bairabi in Mizoram. The Northeast Frontier Railway said the damage occurred on Thursday evening after soil erosion caused by heavy rain.

Railway teams have been sent to the site along with the material needed to repair the track.

The disruption has affected several services, with some trains cancelled, others rescheduled and some terminating before their scheduled destinations. The Sairang-Guwahati Express has ended its journey at Bairabi and is being sent back to Sairang.
