Guwahati, June 29 -- A landslide at a work site in Arunachal Pradesh's Anjaw district claimed the life of an earthmoving machine operator from Assam on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Rupam Rabha, 35, a resident of Bongaon Burhigaon in Boko.

He had been working in the Walong area as a Poklen operator.

Reports said Rabha was on duty at around 8.30 pm when a large mass of earth suddenly gave way, burying the machine he was operating beneath the debris.

He died at the spot.

The incident has caused grief among his family and residents of his native village.

His family includes his wife and a four-year-old son.
