Guwahati, Aug. 2 -- Residents of flood-affected Sivasagar and Charaideo will not have to pay land revenue (mati khajana) for one year after the Assam government announced the concession on Saturday as part of its flood rehabilitation measures.

Speaking during a Facebook Live session on Saturday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the land revenue exemption would take effect from April 1, 2026.

Sivasagar and Charaideo were among the worst-affected districts during the recent floods, with thousands of houses, farmlands and public infrastructure damaged, while many families were displaced.
